While the Marquette [High School, Illinois] football program lost one of its front line leaders, Knox College gained one as Jack Donahue committed to play for the Prairie Fire on Wednesday. The left guard helped the Crusaders score an area-best 32.4 points per game en route to a 9-0 regular season in the Northeastern Athletic Conference and a trip to the second round of the Class 1A playoffs. Knox College’s baseball team holds a 10-5 record and is off to a start Prairie Fire coach Jami Isaacson doesn’t remember experiencing before. “It’s nice to be 10-5, but we’re 3-1 in the Midwest Conference and that’s a good start. Doing what we did against Grinnell last week makes us feel good.
“If we stay healthy, pitch it and field it we are going to compete in the Midwest Conference,” he added. “We have a long way to go. We just have to be who we are and do what we do and let the chips fall where they may. We have to stay within the game. Knox College men’s tennis player Walter Palmer has earned an award from the Midwest Conference for his dominance on the court. Palmer, a sophomore, helped the Prairie Fire defeat Simpson College and North Central College last Saturday at Lakeside Tennis Center.
