Knox College becomes 6th Production in Illinois to join the production of 44 Plays for 44 Presidents. Knox College is special to us for two reasons: It’s the sixth–count ‘em–SIXTH production of 44 Plays for 44 Presidents happening this year in the great state of Illinois. Also, Knox is in Galesburg, which is the birthplace of Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, cowriter of 44 Plays (and my lovely bride.)

GateHouse and Knox College are teaming up to bring a Pulitzer Prize winner to Galesburg. Sun-Times Reporter Mark Konkol will speak to newspaper editors and reporters during a conference starting at noon Thursday at the Best Western Prairie Inn, and then will talk to students at Knox College later in the day…
On Thursday afternoon, Konkol will go to the Knox College campus to speak with students for about 90 minutes. The annual Knox County Spring Bird Count was held Saturday, May 5th… This Count is held every spring in most counties in Illinois on the Saturday that falls between May 4th and 10th… Final results of this year’s Count weren’t available as of this writing, but the total species found was at least 130…
The total number of different species found in the county over the years, including rarities such as the aforementioned kite, is over 220. Jim Mountjoy, of the Knox College Biology Department, is the current compiler for the Count. Read more…

Knox College football player Mike Hendrick has been named the top tackler in the NCAA Division III. Hendrick, a junior linebacker, received an NCAA statistical champion plaque for leading the nation with an average of 15.7 tackles per game during the 2011 season.
He was also named to Beyond Sports Network’s (BSN) All-American Second Team Defense, D3Football.com’s All-West Region Team’s Second Team Defense, and he was an All-Midwest Conference First Team selection… Read more…
