Knox Grad’s Book Praised

From: CBS News (New York, NY) –

The December 22, 2013, edition of CBS’s “Face the Nation” takes a break from politics to interview some of 2013’s most celebrated authors, including Terry McMillan, Rick Atkinson, Michael Connelly, and George Saunders. Each author was asked to recommend a book for President Obama to read while on vacation in Hawaii…

Saunders, a MacArthur “Genius Grant” fellow and author of several collections of short stories, including “Tenth of December,” stated: “I would have the president read High Rise Stories, edited by [Knox College graduate] Audrey Petty. It’s a beautiful Studs-Terkel-esque book about Chicago high rise housing projects [from] the 60s through the 80s. Maybe as a way of reminding ourselves that progress happens, but sometimes there’s a slog first. It’s a great book.” Video on-line at CBS News…
