Knox to Host NAACP Workshop

The local chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring a series of law enforcement interaction workshops designed to educate people about appropriate behavior during police encounters.

The workshops, to be held at Churchill Junior High School, Carl Sandburg College and Knox College, are the next step in what began as a local prayer vigil last November. Following last year’s grand jury decision not to indict Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown, the NAACP helped put together a community event at the Allen Chapel AME Church to begin a dialogue between the community and the police… Read more…
