Knox Faculty, Alumni Bring Cuban Theatre to US

Knox College theatre faculty and alumni are helping bring work by an acclaimed Cuban playwright to the US. The Chicago Sun Times reports:

Liz Carlin Metz, artistic director of Vitalist Theatre in Chicago, who also teaches theater at Knox College, accompanied a student group to Cuba last fall and was tasked with checking out the theater scene with an eye to procuring a play for IVP. Through the group’s travel coordinator (and Knox College graduate), Scott Schwar of Cuba Tours 4 U, she was introduced to 22-year-old Liz Gil Echenique who is completing an advanced degree in theater at Cuba’s prestigious University of the Arts… Her play, “The Walruses,” translated by Yael Prizant and directed by (Knox College graduate) Kelly Lynn Hogan, will be performed Feb. 15-March 2 at Victory Gardens Biograph Theater in Chicago… Read more…
