Knox Alumni Invent Unique Block Toy

Two Knox College graduates have created a children’s toy block that is the culmination of their life’s studies. Michael and Heather Acerra of Galesburg are bringing Lux Blox to the market later this year after spending years working on and perfecting the idea. “I’ve been working on things like this all my life,” Michael Acerra said. “When I left Knox (College) and moved to the Maine forest to study nature, I was looking for a really good way to explain nature.” …

The Lux Blox are square blocks that can be connected to each other with hinges on each of the four sides. “They’re just squares, but you can take them and snap them together to make a triangle, and you can take that to make the corner of a triangular pyramid. You can snap them together to make squares, pentagons and hexagons, and because one block can make all those shapes, those shapes can make everything else,” Michael said… Read more…
