Knox Grad Active in Relief

100 years ago, a Knox grad was making a difference:

“During the week of July 24-30, 1916… the Galesburg Evening-Mail reported on World War I and on the border crisis in the Southwest… Knox College graduate and former Galesburg resident Ruth Stuart wrote of her Red Cross work on the Texas-Mexico border.

“We are badly needed now. There are so many sick in the hospital. But we haven’t had enough training yet, so can’t be called on. We all feel down here that we should do all we can to help the soldiers be comfortable, for they are protecting us,” Stuart wrote… Read more…
