There was an air of celebration around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning in the lobby of Post Hall at Knox College as Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States.

“I’m just very proud at where we are right now,” said Cameron Posey, a freshman from Clayton, Md.

About 40 students gathered to watch the inauguration of the man who has significant ties to their campus and their generation. Cheers rang out as the new Commander-in-Chief proclaimed a message of hope and change which reached millions of ears across the world.

People scrambled to their feet for the Oath of Office, some standing on chairs and tables in order to get a good view of the television screen.
