LETTER: Food pantry grateful for donations

From the Register-Mail:

The FISH of Galesburg Food Pantry extends its sincere thanks to everyone who donated food for the Letter Carrier’s 17th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 9….

FISH is a United Way agency and receives Emergency Food & Shelter Program funds, but the majority of our budget comes from donations from generous individuals, churches, civic groups, and local businesses. We rely heavily on food drives to stock the shelves and the NALC Food Drive brings in the largest supply each year.

It is a wonderful challenge to receive so much food in one day. Many energetic volunteers worked to unload, sort, and store the food at the pantry. Volunteers included area church groups, Knox College students, Knox County AMVETS and Auxiliary, and caring families and individuals.
