NCAA Sacks Leader Burke Back for 5th Season at Knox College

From WGIL radio:

One of the best defensive linemen to ever play football at Knox College is returning for another season in the fall to terrorize opponents on the offensive side of the ball.
Tighe Burke, a senior defensive end for the Prairie Fire from Winnetka, Illinois (New Trier Township) will return for the 2009-2010 season. Burke, the 2008-2009 NCAA Division III sacks leader and a Third-Team Associated Press Little All-America selection, has a full year of eligibility remaining because of an ankle injury he suffered in the first game of his sophomore season.

By returning for his fourth full season of football, and fifth overall, Burke will look to add to his already long list of accolades he accumulated last season. Along with being named to the third team of the A.P. Little All-America, Burke was named Midwest Conference first team All-Conference, Most Valuable Senior and Defensive Most Valuable Player for the Prairie Fire.

Burke finished the 2008-2009 season with 54 tackles, including 31 solo stops, four forced fumbles and 13.5 sacks. Burke’s 13.5 sacks gave him an average of 1.35 sacks per game, ranking him first in all of NCAA Division III in the category.
