KNOX FOOTBALL: Fire offseason energized

From the Register-Mail:

Coming off consecutive 3-7 seasons, the Knox College football team needed a big play to start turning the tide.

The Prairie Fire feel they got two of them.

Knox coach Andy Gibbons, his staff and players have been energized heading into summer preparations for the 2009 season by the announcement that third team Little All-American defensive end Tighe Burke will return for a fifth season and that a hustling recruiting effort resulted in the addition of 31 players, the program’s largest class in years. That will also create a roster of about 75 players, also the school’s largest in a while.

“For us, having an NCAA leader back obviously is a huge boost to our team,” said Gibbons. “He’s definitely going to be one of the best players in our conference and be a key to our defense.”
