Knox students’ workshop draws young writers

From the Register-Mail:

Children speaking in soft tones offered up nouns, adjectives, adverbs and the names of famous people.

When the Mad Lib was done — and Knox College senior Nicole Thompson read it aloud — the seven girls and one boy who attended Tuesday’s young writer’s workshop giggled at their shared creation. The message to all those involved with the workshop in the Galesburg Public Library was simple: writing is fun.

The workshop is hosted by creative writing majors from Knox College the first Tuesday of every month until the end the college lets out for summer vacation. Hannah Buckland, Mag Miel and Aaron Palmer hosted the gathering with Thompson. It drew eight kids — comprised of fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders from local schools.
