From the Register-Mail:
After quick glance at the 2009 stat sheet for Knox College baseball, one fact might jump out at you.
Just one returning Prairie Fire regular hit .250 or better last season.
That doesn’t discourage Knox coach Jami Isaacson.
“Our goal hasn’t changed,” said the Fire coach in his 10th year. “Our goal every year is to win the Midwest Conference and we think we’re ready to do that.”
Knox is just two years removed from its miracle late-season performance that grabbed an MWC title and NCAA Division III playoff spot. Despite an 8-19 record a year ago, the Fire were in the South Division hunt until the season’s last weekend.
The majority of Knox’s roster returns from those experiences and that’s where the Fire hope they have an edge.
