Knox Volleyball Star Gets Conference Honor

From WGIL radio:

A great all-around volleyball player for Knox College who has picked up where she left off last season already has an award for her efforts.

Junior Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, Illinois/Galesburg) was a First-Team All-Midwest Conference selection last season. The outside hitter and co-captain for the Prairie Fire led the MWC in kills and kills per game in 2009 and was 13th in NCAA Division III.

Ricketts, who has helped Knox get off to a 3-3 start this season, including three straight victories and ultimately a 3-1 mark in last weekend’s Eureka College Tournament, has been named the Midwest Conference’s Volleyball Performer of the Week.

Ricketts had 81 kills, or an average of 16.2 per match, and a .278 hitting percentage through Knox College’s first five matches. She displayed her durability by playing every point of every set of every match at Eureka and her all-around skills by contributing 45 digs, or an average of nine per match.
