College Football: Can Knox’s youth find consistency?

From the Register-Mail:

New Knox College head football coach Chad Eisele knows there are good things and bad things that come from young players, he hopes the good things come out early and often starting Saturday.

That’s when the Prairie Fire — using new offensive and defense schemes— try to erase memories of a 1-9 season in 2009 in a 7 p.m. 2010 opener against Washington University in St. Louis.

“I feel very confident that assignment-wise, we’ll be very sound on Saturday,” said Eisele, Knox’s athletic director who served as offensive coordinator the past two years. “But can we be consistent? Can we get two or three first downs in a row, then finish the drive?

“That’s the key.”

The Fire count 16 returning starters but have just 10 seniors on their roster, 12 juniors and 20 first-year players.
