Knox College music professors to give lecture/performance
Polay has taught at Knox and directed the Knox-Galesburg Symphony since 1983. He has composed works for orchestra, voice, organ, brass, violin and chamber ensemble. He has received numerous composition honors, including Rudolf Nissim Composition Competition and ASCAP/Plus Awards. He also has won Cultural Leadership and Conductor of the Year awards from the Illinois Council of Orchestras.
Moran teaches voice and opera workshop at Knox. She has performed operatic roles with Opera Pacifica, the Tacoma Opera and Opera Quad Cities. She also has performed as a soloist with the Galesburg Community Chorus and the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra. Earlier this fall, Moran was a soloist for the Nova Singers’ performances of Bach’s B Minor Mass.
She will perform with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Orpheum Theatre.
