Knox students monitor Iowa caucuses

A handful of Knox College students on Tuesday saw the unique Iowa caucus primary process, a more collaborative electoral and political structure that one local professor called “the most misunderstood process” in United States government.

Andrew Civettini, a political science professor at Knox College, took 15 students to Iowa City to watch nearly 15 precincts in Johnson County vote in the Republican presidential primary and then deliberate on the state party’s platform… Civettini said the trip ties into his class, which attempts to explain why citizens participate in elections and decide on a particular candidate.
