Coaching legend retires from Knox

Knox College’s associate baseball coach Jim “Jimmy” Isaacson is retiring at the end of the Prairie Fire’s season. Isaacson will be honored before and after Knox’s doubleheader Saturday [April 28] against Illinois College, which has been dubbed Jim Isaacson Day.

“I’ve given just about everything I could from a physical and mental standpoint,” Isaacson said. “I’ll miss the camaraderie with the kids more than anything.”…

“I hired [Isaacson] because it was an opportunity for us to add the best baseball coach in the area to our staff and it wasn’t something we wanted to pass up under any circumstances,” said [retired Knox athletic director Harley] Knosher. “Long before he came to Knox, Jim had established himself as one of the top baseball people in this part of the state.
