Gilbert featured at Conference

Gregory Gilbert, Professor and Director of the Art History Program, gave a talk at the recent College Art Association Conference in New York City, February 13-16. His talk was titled “Challenging the Erasure of War: The New York Avant-Garde and Media Censorship of World War II” and was part of the session “Has anyone seen an image of war? Reassessing the visual culture of war and related disasters, violence and torture in the modern and contemporary moment.” His talk is a chapter in his current book project on the relation of Abstract Expressionist art to the mass visual culture of the Second World War.
