Farrer Receives Grant

Ben Farrer, assistant professor of environmental studies, received a National Science Foundation grant (Award ID: 1851878, Titled “Collaborative Research: Technological Shocks and Institutional Effectiveness under Heterogeneous Risk”) to research how best to regulate fracking, and by extension, how best to make any controversial decision about a new technology. The grant is for approximately $300,000, runs until 2021, and is co-authored with Rob Holahan at Binghamton University. It will hopefully provide many well-paying and exciting jobs for Knox students over the next two years.
