The Galesburg Civic Art Center will host an exhibition of works by Jared Lacy in the new Blick Gallery from Feb. 3 through Feb. 24. Lacy has been a local artist and art teacher in the Galesburg School District for over 38 years. His work has been featured in previous GALEX exhibitions as well as in regional galleries. The Blick Gallery is located behind the One12 Gift Shop at 112 East Main Street and is also connected to the Galesburg Civic Art Center’s main gallery. The Blick Gallery is open during regular Art Center hours: Tuesdays through Fridays 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Galesburg Civic Art Center presents an exhibition of works by Rich Ankeney of Galesburg, and Marianne Vick of Chicago. The exhibition will be on display Friday, Feb. 3 through March 3 in the Galesburg Civic Art Center’s exhibition gallery. An opening reception will take place on Friday, Feb. 3 from 6-8pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Rich Ankeny’s Car Show includes images taken around Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin and is inspired by Ankeney’s interest in using current technologies to create photographs with a historical and perhaps nostalgic aspect. Marianne Vick is a self-taught artist who has developed her detailed, realistic style of painting and for the past 10 years the focus of her paintings has shifted from representational wildlife painting to allegorical pictorials featuring birds and their various characteristics as stand-ins for our unique human conditions.
