New band to premiere at Galva Coffeehouse
The Jansson 5, a Bishop HIll-based blues/jazz trio will mark its first-ever public performance when they are the featured entertainers at the Galva Arts Council’s monthly coffeehouse on Saturday, January 14.  Members include guitarist Nathan Hahn, bass player Curtis Hawkins and drummer Josh Morrissey. Both Hawkins and Morrissey are colony residents, while Hahn hails from Galva.  The group takes its name from Erk Jannson, the charismatic leader who founded the Bishop Hill Colony in the 1800s.
Doors open at 7:00, with the featured performance beginning at 7:30 at the council’s building on Exchange Street in downtown Galva. An open mic segment will take place after the Jansson 5 set, with all interested artists and musicians invited to participate. Refreshments will be provided and admission is free, though donations are gratefully accepted.
