Joint Worship Service, 4:00 p.m., Kresge Recital Hall — There will be a community worship service to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the College, the First Church and Galesburg. The service will include songs from a community choir, prayers and congregational songs. A video sharing history from the beginning of the community, college and church with specific focus of the connection with the underground railroad. A collection will be taken at the door following the service to go toward the FISH food pantry. Gifts of cash and non-perishable goods will be accepted. All are invited to attend.
The United Way of Knox County will host a 2nd Chance Prom at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 8 p.m. to Midnight on Saturday, March 10. This fundraising event will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and feature music from Thrillsville. And just think…….you could portentially wind up as Prom King or Prom Queen! Find a fun outfit to wear (anywhere from semi-formal to completely decked out for the 80’s) for an evening of good times and great memories. You can get your prom pictures taken to boot! Tickets for this fun event are on sale now. Tickets in advance are $8, at the door are $10. Call the United Way office at 309-343-4434 if you would like to order tickets by phone (credit cards accepted). Or, stop by the United Way Office on the 5th floor of the Bondi Building. Tickets are also available from Kraig Boynton at City Hall or Annette Pickrel at the Main St. F&M Bank.

74th Alumni Achievement Awards, 5:00 p.m., Kresge Recital Hall — This year’s recipients, Lynn S. Wright ’63, Mary Lu Hudson Aft ’60, Peter Leibig ’73, James Solomon ’74, and Norman Golar ’02, will be joined by 20 past award recipients during this special version of the Alumni Achievement ceremony.
Founders Flashback, 9:00 p.m., Fieldhouse — Join Knox students, plus a few of Knox’s historical figures, for this festive party, featuring our own local band Thrillsville, a faculty/staff dance off, Knox trivia contest, costume contests, and more.
The latest issue of eXchanges, an online journal of literary translation published by the University of Iowa, includes The Lovers, a play by Margareth Obexer, translated by Neil Blackadder (theatre). The original German (Die Liebenden) is published alongside the English version, followed by a translator’s note.
