Stuart Allison (biology) recently attended the annual meeting of the Midwest-Great Lakes Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration. He was there in his capacity as a member of the Board of Directors of SER. He gave a presentation about the new SER strategic plan, strategic initiatives that result from that plan, the newly hired executive director and other recent changes at SER.
Monica Berlin’s poem “[To scale, yes, days to scale, even when they grow so cluttered]” has been published in Rhino (April 2012). Also, she contributed a little essay, “[More on 5×2, sort of],” in celebration of the tenth issue of Fifth Wednesday Journal, where she serves as the nonfiction editor.
An informational meeting for members of the class of 2013 interested in applying for Fulbright U.S. Student Program will be held with Dean Breitborde on Thursday, May 17 at 4 p.m. in the Alumni Room, Old Main. The Fulbright gives recent B.A. graduates opportunities for personal development and international experience. Projects involve university course work abroad, independent library or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Applications are due on campus early in the fall term 2012 and a campus interview is required.
