Dr. David Roediger to give talk Oct. 10

Dr. David Roediger, who teaches history and African American Studies at the University of Illinois, will present a talk regarding his newest book, The Production of Difference: Race and the Management of Labor in U.S. History, on Wednesday, October 10, at 4 PM in the Round Room, CFA. All are invited to a welcome reception in the CFA lobby from 2-3 p.m. preceding the talk.

Symphony Season Opener is Oct. 13

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony will feature Parisian violinist Solenn Séguillon and cellist Anne Suda at its opening 2012-2013 season concert on Saturday, Oct. 13. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre.
The Knox-Galesburg Symphony, under the direction of artistic director/conductor Bruce Polay, will perform Hovhaness’ Symphony No. 22, Opus 236 “City of Light” and Polay’s 2012 revised version of “Sparkle,” commissioned by Blick Art Materials. Séguillon and Suda will perform Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Violoncello in A minor, Opus 102.
On Saturday, October 13 at 10 a.m., Séguillon and Suda will present “Musical Partners” at a Music Mornings Program at the Galesburg Public Library. Music Mornings, co-sponsored by the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and the Galesburg Public Library in cooperation with Galesburg School District 205, is a FREE concert preview for children ages preschool through 5th grade. The next Music Mornings program “Great Composers When They Were Young” is slated for November 10 which will be presented by KGS artistic director/conductor Bruce Polay.
