Choral Dynamics, a local performance group dedicated to helping our community through song, will present its “Christmas Around the World” Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre.

This year’s show, directed by Terry Ruehmer, will benefit the Carl Sandburg College Adult Learning Center, and features the whimsical and spiritual aspects of Christmas through music enjoyed around the world.
Children and adults will delight to “Believe” from The Polar Express, “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” from the Broadway hit Elf, and “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch”. Traditional pieces include “Angels We Have Heard on High”, “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella”, and the timeless classic “White Christmas”. Several new compositions include “Carol of the Star”, “Have You Seen the Baby?”, and “Welcome, Welcome Winter”.

Dancers’ Studio of Monmouth, who performed on the Orpheum Theatre’s stage with the world renowned Moscow Ballet last December, and the Monmouth College bagpipers will make special appearances.

As an added feature, a tribute will be made to the late Vincent and Bernice Holmes who brightened our holidays for over 40 years with their Holmes Family Christmas Light displays. And lastly, the singing of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” by our women’s choir will pull on our heartstrings as a tribute to our active local Illinois Army National Guard troops and veterans.
