The Knox Jazz Ensemble brings a vibrant night of jazz to the Kresge stage on Friday, November 11. Exploring big band jazz styles from all periods of jazz history, the KJE promises to bring the audience along on a journey through a broad range of jazz moods. From the bouncing swing feel of Mary Lou Williams’ “Camel Hop,” to the eternal classic “Over the Rainbow,” and the edgy rawness of the Dianne Schuur/Count Basie band and vocalist arrangement of “Caught a Touch of Your Love,” Knox’s premiere jazz ensemble will leave you humming a tune or two at the end of the evening. Selections include works made famous by The Count Basie Big Band, Bobby Darin, Horace Silver, The Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra, and many more.
