On Saturday, Feb. 2 the Knox-Galesburg Symphony will present the annual “First Chairs Forward” concert, a performance designed to showcase individual members of the KGS. This year’s recital will feature principal clarinet Eric Ginsberg, principal cello Carolyn Suda, and our own artistic director/conductor Bruce Polay, piano. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Kresge Recital Hall in the Ford Center for Fine Arts.

The program will include Poulenc’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Kabalevsky’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in B-flat Major, Bernstein’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, and Tajcevic’s “Seven Balkan Dances” for Clarinet, Violoncello and Piano, as well as the world premiere of Bruce Polay’s composition,“Fast.”

Tickets are $12.00 and are available at the Orpheum Theatre Ticket Office (309-342-2299), 250 East Main St., or at the recital on Saturday. Children and students are half-price.

And if you can’t make it this week, you will have one more chance the following week. On Saturday, February 10 at 3:00 p.m., “First Chairs Forward” will perform a recital at The Bistro, 101 W. Main Street in Toulon, IL. Tickets will be available at the door.
