A limited number of Post-Baccalaureate Fellowships will be awarded by the Dean of the College for the 2013-14 academic year. Anyone with a B.A. can apply to be a post-bac student and pay a special tuition rate; however, the Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship Program is open to newly graduated Knox students and supports up to 3 additional terms of participation in the academic life of the campus beyond the receipt of the B.A. The Fellowship consists of a tuition waiver for up to 2 credits per term, at the discretion of the Dean of the College, for a maximum of 3 terms.

Post-Baccalaureate Fellowships support an active and intentional plan of study and service. The program does not support students who are uncertain about their futures and wish to remain in a “holding pattern.” Instead, Post-Baccalaureate Fellowships recognize special opportunities that would be provided by 1 to 3 terms of additional participation in the life of the College. The program recognizes outstanding students who propose (a) a service project which contributes to the improvement of Knox’s educational programs, and (b) a plan for enrollment in a set of courses which will enrich the applicant’s undergraduate education. A Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship does not provide support for room and board.

Applications for Post-Baccalaureate Fellowships for 2013-14 must include (1) a proposal for a project which contributes to the quality of an academic program or the larger educational mission of the College; (2) a letter of support from the sponsoring faculty member or administrator endorsing the project; (3) a description of an academic agenda to enroll in specific courses during the tenure of the fellowship; and (4) a transcript of academic work completed.

Forms and guidelines are available from the Office of the Dean of the College, or you may request an application by contacting Nancy Fennig at 309/341-7217 or nfennig@knox.edu.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 5, 2013, to the Dean of the College Office. Students interested in a Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship for any part of 2013-14 must apply by April 5, 2013. [Applications will not be accepted during 2013-14 for a Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship during that year.]
