Sullivan ’13 Wins Prize for Research Project

Kasandara Sullivan ’13 won second prize in the Student Research Symposium for her talk “Pretransitional Optical Rotation in Liquid Crystals,” presenting her research project with professor Tom Moses. Sullivan’s talk was given March 1 at the Illinois Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers meeting at Western Illinois University.

Steel Drum Montage, March 12

You are warmly invited to “Calypso Chaos,” a rip-roaring steel-drum montage featuring original compositions by the students of Music 145 (Music Theory I). An ad hoc steelband featuring Jeremy Day-O’Connel, Sarah Day-O’Connell, Jake Hawrlak (bass), and Sam Lewis (drums) will play on the CFA patio Tuesday morning, March 12, between second and third hours (10:30-10:40).
Encore performance: by popular demand, a second steelband performance has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 in the Gizmo at 12:15 p.m.!

Senior Art History Symposium, March 11

The Department of Art and Art History invites you to attend the 2013 Senior Art History Symposium on Monday, March 11. The symposium will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Round Room of the Ford Center for Fine Arts. A reception in the CFA lobby will follow the event.
