2013 Joe W. Morgan Lecture by Lara Moritz ’90

Lara Moritz ’90 will deliver the 2013 Joe W. Morgan Lecture in Journalism. Moritz is an evening news anchor at KMBC-TV, Kansas City, Missouri.
An award-winning TV news anchor who has won two Emmy’s and two Edward R. Murrow awards, Moritz will talk about the power of listening as a way to get the stories that a community needs to hear. In her 18 years at KMBC, Moritz has interviewed everyone from serial killers and teenage cancer survivors to President Barack and Michelle Obama. An English major at Knox, Lara holds her master’s in journalism from the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism. Her lecture is entitled, “Giving a Voice … even when it’s uncomfortable.” This event is free and open to the public.
The lecture is sponsored by the Joe W. Morgan ’34 Fund for Journalism, established in 2007 by Ann Lee Morgan, Knox ’62, in honor of her father, a longtime journalist and regional editor for United Press International
