The Knox-Galesburg Symphony has been featured at the annual Concert on the Lawn since 1986. This free family concert on the South Lawn of Old Main, is held annually the evening of Knox’s Commencement.
Free and open to the public, Concert on the Lawn provides Knox’s newest alums, their families, Galesburg and surrounding communities an evening of entertaining music selected primarily from audience requests. This year’s concert will include Music from “Frozen”, A Beatles Suite, “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Stormy Weather,” Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” and Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever among other favorites.
Nina Laube, a Midwest Young Artists Walgreens’ National Concerto Competition Senior Division Winner, will join the KGS as soloist performing Weber’s Bassoon Concerto in F Major, Opus 75.
KGS souvenirs, hot dogs, popcorn, and other snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase at the concert and prize drawings will be held. The public is invited to bring their family, lawn chairs and relax and enjoy great music in a beautiful outdoor setting.
In case of inclement weather, the concert is moved to the Knox College T. Fleming Fieldhouse.
The public is asked to refrain from bringing pets on the Knox College campus.
