Join us for Commencement at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, to celebrate the Class of 2014 graduates! The Commencement ceremony is held outside on the South Lawn of Old Main. Seating is open, so arrive early to grab your seats! Tickets are only required if the ceremony is moved indoors (T. Fleming Fieldhouse) due to severe weather.
This year’s speaker will be Natasha Trethewey, the nation’s 19th poet laureate and the author of four collections of poetry, Domestic Work (2000); Bellocq’s Ophelia (2002); Native Guard (2006) — for which she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize — and, most recently, Thrall (2012).
Honorary Degrees will be awarded to Trethewey, Alan Harn, assistant curator of anthropology at Dickson Mounds Museum; and Ramsey Lewis, Grammy-award winning and renowned jazz musician.
