Mark your calendars for April 9-11, and experience the excitement, artistry, and energy of the Knox-Rootabaga Jazz Festival.
Thanks to the hard work of numerous students and music lovers, ‘Baga continues its commitment to bringing world-class jazz to the area, and represents a unique partnership between Knox College, the Galesburg community, and local music and arts supporters.
The festival kicks off on April 1 with a free concert by the Daniel Leahy Group. The weekend of events features performances by the Knox Faculty and Friends Combo, Knox Alumni Big Band, Knox Jazz Ensemble, and this year’s invited guests, The Lowdown Brass Band (LDB), a horn-driven tour de force hailing from Chicago, and the Anat Cohen Quartet.
Cohen is a renowned clarinetist, who has toured the world with her Quartet. They will perform Saturday, April 11, 2015, at historic Orpheum Theatre. Thanks to a Challenge America grant, the Anat Cohen concert is free for general admission floor and balcony seats.
