Symphony Concert Features Principal Flute, March 28

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony will feature KGS principal flute Carol Neuleib at its Saturday, March 28 concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre, in Galesburg.

Under the direction of KGS artistic director/conductor Bruce Polay, the KGS will perform Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Sinfonietta on Russian Themes,” Opus 31 and Telemann’s “Alster” Overture in F Major for Four Horns and Strings. Carol Neuleib will perform Telemann’s Flute Concerto in E minor.

Carol Neuleib received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Illinois State University where she studied with Max Schoenfeld. She continued her studies with Julius Baker, principal flautist of the New York Philharmonic and professor at The Juilliard School in New York. Neueib also studied with Walter Haedrich and Keith Underwood and most recently with William Bennet.

For nearly thirty years, Neuleib has served as principal flute of the KGS performing with the orchestra and in KGS “First Chairs Forward” recitals. She is the music director at the First Congregational UCC Church in Geneso, an active member of the Quad City Flute Association, Quad City Music Guild, the Geneso Community Choir, and maintains a flute studio in her home. Neuleib is also a Senior Registered Client Associate with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC.

On Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m., Neuleib will present “The Flute” for the “Music Mornings” program at the Galesburg Public Library. “Music Mornings”, co-sponsored by the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and the Galesburg Public Library in cooperation with Galesburg School District 205, is a FREE concert preview for children ages preschool through 5th grade. Adults are welcome to attend. The next “Music Mornings” program, featuring winners of the 22nd annual KGS Young Pianists Competition and KGS piano soloist Lisa Leonard is slated for Saturday, April 25 at the Orpheum Theatre.
