Ferrigno Accepted into Exhibition in New Jersey

Andrea Ferrigno’s (art) work, “Exuberant Motion”, was one of 51 of over 1100 entries selected for the “2017 International Juried Exhibition” at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ. The juror was Stephen Westfall, professor at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and in the graduate program at Bard University, as well as a Contributing Editor at Art in America. The show runs Nov. 17- Dec. 23, 2017.

Ridlon Presented at Conference

Kathleen Ridlon (dance) presented at the 2017 National Dance in Education Conference: Cultivating Equity and Access: Dance Education For All held November 11-14. The title of her presentation was: Community Based Learning in Dance: How Does it Work?

Ucar Gave Presentation at Conference

Nurettin Ucar (Modern Languages – German) gave a presentation at the Midwest Modern Languages Association Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 10. His paper, “Thomas Mann’s Role in Society: An Artist’s Stimulant”, was part of a panel entitled “Aesthetics and Politics”. Ucar talked about how Mann distinguishes between art and politics and why he understands artists as cultural activists.

Franco Poem and Article Published

Gina Franco (English) published the first four sections of a long poem, “Throne,” with the Los Angeles Review.
