Conner Publishes Review Essay

Christopher T. Conner, visiting assistant professor of sociology, has published a review essay titled, “Please Mind The Gap, Between Halal and Haram.” This essay provides an overview of the sociology of race, phenomenology, and utilizes a recent ethnography titled “Keeping it Halal” as a basis for more empirical work on the subject. This essay explores how ethnic groups navigate complex, and often contradictory, cultural systems. This essay will appear in a future issue of Symbolic Interaction, a leading peer-reviewed journal in Sociology.
