A solo exhibition by Andrea Ferrigno, associate professor of art, “Morphologies,” opened December 6 and runs through January 20 at Liz Lidgett Gallery in Des Moines, Iowa. The exhibition contains 26 works. The majority of paintings and prints were made in the past two years and include several new works created this past summer while living and working in Paris, France.
Sara O’Brien, assistant professor of psychology, is co-author on a paper accepted for publication in the journal Psychology of Consciousness: Theory, Research, and Practice entitled “Dissociation as a Multidimensional Transdiagnostic Symptom.” Co-authors were researchers at the VA Boston Healthcare System, Virginia Tech, and the University of Notre Dame.
Scott DeWitt, assistant professor of educational studies, was a panelist at the National Council for the Social Studies conference addressing the topic: “Taking Informed Action: How to Structure and Support Student Action in K-12 Social Studies Classrooms.”
The Academy of American Poets solicited and published a poem by Gina Franco, professor of English. “The Same and the Other” was published through the Poets.org Poem-a-Day initiative on December 3 and includes Franco’s commentary and audio file of her reading the poem as well as two of Franco’s other poems.
Deirdre Dougherty, assistant professor of educational studies, presented the paper “Theorizing Neighborhood: Race, Community, and Neighborhood Schools in Prince George’s County, 1969-1973” at the D.C. History Conference.
