Annual Kid’s Month Exhibition at the Art Center

Artwork created at the Art Center this month during Kid’s Month by area children will be on display in the Art Center Gallery from January 24th through January 27th. There will be a closing reception on Friday, Jan. 27 from 5-7 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public. Kid’s Month is an annual program sponsored by NAEIR and a grant from the Target Foundation.

KPCK Community Meal, Jan. 12

On Thursday, Jan. 12, the Knox Prairie Community Kitchen (KPCK) will be having another Community Meal. The dinner, served at the Central Congregational Church on the square in Galesburg, is free and open to everyone. Doors open at 5:15 and dinner service will go until 7:00 pm. The Community Meals are a wonderful way to meet new people, share in a sense of community, and have a very fine meal as well!

Galva Coffehouse

New band to premiere at Galva Coffeehouse
The Jansson 5, a Bishop HIll-based blues/jazz trio will mark its first-ever public performance when they are the featured entertainers at the Galva Arts Council’s monthly coffeehouse on Saturday, January 14.  Members include guitarist Nathan Hahn, bass player Curtis Hawkins and drummer Josh Morrissey. Both Hawkins and Morrissey are colony residents, while Hahn hails from Galva.  The group takes its name from Erk Jannson, the charismatic leader who founded the Bishop Hill Colony in the 1800s.
Doors open at 7:00, with the featured performance beginning at 7:30 at the council’s building on Exchange Street in downtown Galva. An open mic segment will take place after the Jansson 5 set, with all interested artists and musicians invited to participate. Refreshments will be provided and admission is free, though donations are gratefully accepted.

KGS Music Mornings

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony’s Music Mornings will be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. in the Community Room of the Galesburg Public Library. Art Center Kid’s Month

The Galesburg Civic Art Center will hold its 14th annual Kid’s Month which allows area children to create art and have it exhibited in the Art Center Gallery. Children will be creating their own works of art over a two week period in January and the artwork will then be displayed in the Art Center Gallery from January 24 through January 27.
