The former Alexander Lumber building at 212 E. South Street has begun its transformation into the new office space for the Office of Communications. The Alexander Lumber company closed its Galesburg location in early 2009 and has been vacant since.

The building has been gutted and plumbing work has just begun. The construction crew hopes to have the insulation installed in the next few days with internal walls going up soon after.
